Bluegrass 409 has roots that go back several years.  Fred Etheridge on guitar, and Dan Reseker on mandolin have been playing music together for a number of years.  But it was through the efforts of Fred that brought the current line up together in March of 2006.  The solid bass of Fred’s younger brother Kirk Etheridge was added in 2004, and they played as three piece before settling on a banjo player.  In December of 2005, Fred approached Scott Thigpen at a local jam and asked if he would be interested in getting together with the three of them.  As a student of the banjo of only a few years, Scott agreed to give it a shot.  The four of them finally got together in March of 2006, and they liked what they heard.  Bluegrass 409 was born.  From traditional to the more progressive side of bluegrass, Bluegrass 409 offers a nice blend of styles that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.
